Our Mission

Our mission is to provide an integral Shala, a yoga hOMe for the commUnity. To offer and hold sacred space to deepen in the effective, transformative and nourishing practices of yoga. A place of wholeness for the body, mind and spirit to generate awareness, well-being, peace, stability, knowledge of Self, compassion, connection and joy! A grounded, authentic and easeful space to empower each practitioner in truth, consciousness and bliss.

Our Offerings

We are delighted to have a dedicated experienced teaching staff. The Shala has a diverse, knowledgeable and gifted group of instructors on our team that embody effective and soulful practices. Classes and workshops are offered in traditional forms of yoga such as; hatha, restorative, gentle and energetic vinyasa, yoga therapy, and meditation. As well as, other limbs of of yoga and modalities of wellness and healing; like sound therapy, pranayama, yoga nidra, dance, movement meditation, dharma talks, story time and Reiki. All instructors are certified and accredited.

The Shala

Yoga Shala by the Sea is a charming historical building in the heart of Carmel and is one of the most iconic sacred yoga practice spaces in the area. This  beloved cOMmUnity cottage has been a  home for yoga since 1988, and the past 35 years as our former beloved Yoga Center of Carmel.

It is a nourishing space with lots of windows, natural light and fluid air flow. There is ample free parking in our lot and the lots above. Yoga Shala by the Sea was recently renovated with new flooring, paint, lighting and hot water. Outdoor classes held right outside the Shala in a blocked off area. Bathrooms are available.

We are located just blocks to Carmel beach and downtown Carmel. It is a blessed space and a blessing to be able to continue the tradition of yoga and practices that nourish the body, mind and spirit in the beloved, commUnity Cottage #18.
